Family papers. 1876-1977.

Collection consists of photocopied newspaper clippings, church and commencement programs, and other memorabilia of George Wesley Allen and six of his sons. Half of the collection pertains to sons Alexander Joseph Allen (1884-1956), a Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church; and Nimrod Booker Allen (1886-1977), a prominent civil rights leader in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to biographical sketches and obituaries, the collection includes some of Alexander Allen's sermons, and publications of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, including scattered issues of the "Southern Christan Recorder," 1926-1970.
